A Week in the Woods - camping photo diary

Hi guys! Like I mentioned before (in an instagram post) I'm going to be sharing some photos I took from my camping trip the other week. I went to Julian with my best friend and her family and we stayed at a campground up in the mountains! Let me start off my saying it was hot. It was so fricken hot. Okay now that that's out of the way, I wanna talk about some stuff we did.

There's a pond here for fishing (it's catch and release) and the roads wind through the entire camp so you can ride bikes. I think the last time I rode a bike was the last time we went camping and that was like 5 years ago so trying to climb the hills was HARD. AKA we got off our bikes and pushed them up because we couldn't do it without our legs giving out.

We slept in tents which is always fun, except for the giant hole in the door that I had to sew, which was not fun. The first night there was full of swatting gnats away while trying to get some sleep. The nights were actually pretty cold which I wasn't expecting! We didn't put a tarp over our tent (thank goodness it didn't rain) so we could see the stars through the net which was nice. I couldn't believe how many stars there were. That's not really something you pay attention to when you live in the city since they aren't that visible anyways.
Oh! And the ants up there are like the size of a penny!! Okay I might be exaggerated a little bit there, but they really are huge. Trust me.

Overall, the trip was fun and I can't wait to go camping again!! I miss it already.

Here are some of the pictures I took. Enjoy!!

I have a lot more pictures to post but I don't want to make this suuuper long so I'll be posting the rest of the photos in another blog post that will go up later this week!
Thanks for reading!!

Roadtrip Playlist

So since I'm going camping and I have a 2 1/2 hour drive ahead of me, I made a playlist that me + my friend would both like. (She actually chose half of these songs.) Perfect road trip playlist if you're into car karaoke. Enjoy!!
Thanks for reading, or well listening :-)

What's Going On + Mini July Favorites

Lately I've felt completely lost. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I don't like the direction my blog is going in. I can't even think of anything to blog about. All the creativity that was in my brain just sort of.. fell out. The question is, how do I find it again? I wish I knew. Everyone goes through something like this at least once in their life. At least that's what I tell myself (ha).

I'd like to apologize for putting out half-assed work. (Even though I'm probably the only one who feels it is). It's not how I want to present myself and it's not really going to take me where I want to be.. and I don't even know where that is. I hope that I can post more stuff like this where I'm in a way talking to you guys. Less "how to's". Less posts with barely any writing. After all, the reason I started a blog was so I could write more.

Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm going to try harder. I'm going to try to be a better me, but first I have to figure out how to that. I'm going on a much needed vacation next week with my friend and her family. We're going camping and we haven't been in like 5(?) years! So hopefully this break from the internet and all things social media will help me figure out where to go from here.

Now to my mini July favorites because I just HAVE to talk about these products.

First, we have the Mario Badescu spray. I talked about the rose water spray before in a previous post and I absolutely loved that one. So when this one came out and I was like, well duh!! I have to try it! After using this for a few months I actually was going to stop because I thought it was breaking me out, but I kept using it nonetheless! I haven't had any more breakouts so I think it's safe to say that this wasn't the culprit.

Next is this Maybelline foundation. It's the Fit Me matte + poreless one in the shade rich tan. I got this because I needed a summer foundation (I got really tan and was going to continue getting some color before the summer ended). This shade was too dark (and still is) but I mix it with a lighter foundation and it's perfect! I love, love, LOVE the way this sits on my skin. It doesn't cake up and it doesn't crease AT ALL. Definitely recommend.

You're probably wondering why I included my glasses in this. Well I haven't really been wearing them these past couple months and I just started again. I seriously forgot how amazing it was to see. I'm not blind by any means, but everything is so crisp and clear in these it's really incredible.

Lastly, we have these yellow slides from Forever 21. I actually had a dream I was wearing these shoes and when I walked into Forever 21 and they only had 1 pair in the whole store AND they were my size, I knew I had to get them! They were only $15 and they're yellow!!! My favorite color!! These are faux suede and since they are a light color the creases show really easily which is really the only downside to the shoe. The reviews stated that they were really uncomfortable and gave them blisters but I haven't had either of those problems and I even walked in them all day!

Icy Peach Sorbet

Okay so I know I just did a dessert recipe last week, and I KNOW it was also a peach recipe, but this is just too good not too share. Peaches are in season right now, obviously, so I've been eating way more than my fair share this summer. I've also had a ridiculous sweet tooth lately.. has anyone else? Just me? thought so.

Having a sweet tooth is fine, but when you have one every single day it gets to a point where you just need to stop... or just come up with some healthier dessert options! Which is what I did, or rather, what I'm trying to do.

I thought a sorbet was a good place to start since, 1. I'm trying to cut out most dairy products, and 2. It's summer!! Who doesn't want to eat some cold fruity sorbet or popsicles?? Definitely a no brainer.

Keep reading to find out the recipe!

Ingredients:
  • 5 peaches (frozen)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar (or less if you want to make it healthier) ((if you do this make sure you match the water))
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
** I want to point out that I know this isn't exactly "healthy" because of all the sugar, but there are peaches.. so it's healthier than say, ice cream or cake or something.

Directions:
  1. Peel and slice peaches
  2. Make simple syrup by putting water + sugar in a pot (with the stove on medium). Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Put peaches and simple syrup in a blender. Add lemon juice. (i'd start with 1 tsp of lemon juice). BLEND!!!!
  4. After blending, taste it and make sure it's to your liking. You can add more lemon juice if desired, and blend again.
  5. Pour into a loaf pan (or whatever you want) and put in the freezer.
  6. Let it freeze for an hour and then stir with a fork. Continuing stirring every 30 minutes until frozen to your liking.
This recipe is done without using an ice cream maker, so it's a lot icier than it would be if you had used the ice cream maker. (if you want to do that, message me and I'll let you know how to do it that way!)

If you want to make popsicles, just pour the mix into popsicle molds and freeze!

Thanks so much for reading,

Super Sweet Peach Cobbler

Hi y'all! Today's post is going to be a yummy peach cobbler recipe. I found this recipe on pinterest and I knew I needed to try it for myself. I was not disappointed at all when I tasted this. It's perfectly sweet and delicious with a scoop of ice cream!!

This recipe is from Ashley Wagner over on CenterCutCook!

I was going to include a photo from before it went in the oven but it looks pretty disgusting with the batter poured into the butter.. If you make this for yourself you will understand what I mean, haha!

Prep time: 10 min             Cook Time: 45 min

Ingredients

  • 6-8 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Peel peaches by pouring boiling water over them, let sit for a minute and remove them from the water. Then peel.
  • Pour melted butter into a 13 x 9 in baking dish.
  • In a bowl, sift together flour, 1 cup sugar (the other is for the peaches), baking powder, and salt. Add in milk and stir until combined. Pour batter over the butter. Do not stir.
  • In a saucepan, combine peaches, the other cup of sugar, vanilla, lemon juice and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Pour this mixture over the batter. DO NOT STIR.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream :-)
The batter will rise above the peaches during baking so don't worry if the order of pouring seems incorrect!!

Thanks for reading!! Let me know if you try making this at home!

Day in Corona del Mar

Hi guys! Today I'm going to be sharing some pictures I took from the day I spent at Corona del Mar! It was such a beautiful day and it wasn't too crowded by the water.

There were so many crabs and fish in the tide pools and one almost crawled on my foot. I was horrified. I unfortunately didn't take any pictures of the tide pools because I was afraid I was going to drop my phone. I actually ended up losing my shoes (twice) so I guess it was best that I didn't have my phone over there, haha!

Sorry there weren't more pictures, but a lot of the ones I took were repetitive since we were on the smaller side of the beach!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend + fourth of july!! ♡

Makeup Eraser Review

Okay so my aunt gave this towel the other day, and she said this thing was magic. It's from Daiso Japan and I think it was like $2 or $3. This towel will apparently take all my makeup off and all I have to do is put water on it. Of course I was a bit skeptical because how the heck could this possibly remove my makeup? It's just a towel???

So yesterday I decided to give it a try. I'd like to note that this towel is pretty big and she advised me to cut it into smaller pieces (which I did). I cut it into 8 pieces and now it's the perfect size.

I'd also like to note that I have no idea if I'm supposed to wring the towel out after I get it wet, but I did. I will also try it without wringing it out and I'll let you know how that goes once I do.

Here's what the towel looks like! It comes in other colors too.

This towel truly is magic. It took all of my foundation off with ease. I barely even had to wipe my face. Mascara on the other hand was a little tricky but I ended up getting all of it off. It didn't make my skin feel weird or leave a residue at all which was great! What's cool about this is that after you use it you just wash it and it's good as new! (so cutting it up into small pieces is a good idea if you plan on using it a lot. then you will always have a fresh one to use!!)

Here's me after I used the towel. Like I said before, it takes a bit of elbow grease to get the mascara off. (also please excuse my unruly eyebrows)

This is going to be perfect on days that I'm wearing makeup and I want to go to the gym because I am lazy and I actually hate washing my face just to go workout. I know I could technically work out with my makeup on (ew) but I just don't want to risk breaking out because I'm getting all sweaty with foundation on! I also don't really like using makeup wipes unless I'm immediately washing my face afterwards since the residue it leaves on my skin feels icky. So I'm really excited to use this instead.

Go pick one of these up and try it for yourself!!
P.s. this is not sponsored I just thought it was really cool!
